ITV have announced they will be bringing back prime time classic “World of Sport” for a one off special showcasing some of the best of British wrestling.
To those that may not remember, World of Sport was a cult hit that ran on the ITV from January 1965 until September 1985.
A bit like BBC’s Grandstand (ask your Dad), World of Sport covered a number of sports over the space of one episode, but above else, fans fell in love with its wrestling segment.
Heroes such as Rollerball Rocco, Mick McManus and Kendo Nagasaki made waves on the show, and the long running feud between Big Daddy and baddie Giant Haystacks was up there with anything in the early WWE canon.
Now the show is following in the steps of others retro classics like Robot Wars and Crystal Maze and will be making a triumphant comeback later this year.
A new two hour special episode will see some of the UK’s finest pro wrestlers make their way to the ring including, ‘The East End Butcher’ Sha Samuels, Dave Mastiff and ‘Viper’ Kimberly Benson, according to the ITV website.

Most interesting of all, commentary for the special will be handled by legendary commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross.
That’s Jim “he soundtracked most of the Attitude Era” Ross.
The special, will air on 1 November. We can’t wait.
