Rogan has previously been criticised for spreading misinformation on his podcast
Joe Rogan has threatened to quit podcasting if he starts to feel like he is being censored.
Rogan has come under pressure in recent months for spreading misinformation regarding covid on his podcast. This led Neil Young to pull his music from Spotify, with a number of other musicians, including Joni Mitchell, doing the same.
In Tuesday’s episode (March 29) of The Joe Rogan Experience with MMA fighter Josh Barnett, Rogan admitted that he was concerned he would end up having to “walk on eggshells,” Complex reports.
Rogan said: “If I become something different because it grew bigger, I will quit. If it gets to a point that I can’t do it anymore, where I have to do it in some sort of weird way where I walk on eggshells and mind my p’s and q’s, f*** that.”
Barnett said that people have already “framed up” who Rogan is.
“[Ninety-nine] per cent of everyone’s complaint on you, any criticism, is essentially – they’re levying an insincerity – they’re putting insincerity on you. That’s really what it is,” he said.
“But the thing is when you do something like that, because it’s a good thing, because it intrigues you and you like it, it resonates with people because they’re so starving for that.”

Along with having a number of controversial guests on his podcast who endorse unproven treatments for covid and claims about the disease, Rogan has become infamous for promoting the use of antiparasitic drug Ivermectin as a cure for covid.
Prior to Neil Young voicing his opposition to Rogan’s podcast, hundreds of doctors and medical professionals signed an open letter to Spotify voicing their concerns about the claims Rogan was making on his podcast.
Rogan came under further scrutiny earlier this year, when a video compilation showing him using the n-word on a number of occasions on his podcast was shared online.
He has since apologised for the use of the racial slur.
In 2020, Rogan struck a massive $100m with Spotify for the platform to be the exclusive home of his podcast. But the New York Times reports that the deal could in fact be worth more than double this.
