Forget Top Gear, this is the Matt LeBlanc we know and love.
The former star of Friends may be about to front the new series of the motor show alongside Chris Evans, but it’s his 12-year stint in the New York-based sitcom that remains his most celebrated work to date.
Alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, LeBlanc shone as Joey Tribbiani, the loveable lothario of the gang, with his bromance with Chandler Bing a definite highlight.
Since then his ventures back into television comedy have been mixed. He was the star of ill-conceived Friends spin-off Joey, which was cancelled after two seasons, before winning praise and awards for playing a fictional version of himself in BBC show Episodes.
Now, as well as appearing in the eagerly awaited reboot of Top Gear, the 48-year-old actor is returning to his US sitcom origins with a promising new CBS show called Man With A Plan.
He plays a contractor who starts spending more time at home when his wife goes back to work, and discovers that being a stay-at-home dad is tougher than he thought (presumably with hilarious consequences).
Judging from this first look, LeBlanc’s character seems to be one part Joey Tribbiani and two parts Ray Barone, in the fish out of water premise. There’s even a moment when he looks into a mirror and is almost aching to say “How you doin’?”
