It’s amazing what just one record-breaking film can do for your career.
Last year Colin Trevorrow was just another up-and-coming director, with sleeper hit Safety Not Guaranteed his biggest film to date.
But following his overwhelming success at the helm of Jurassic World, Trevorrow is being linked with one of the world’s most wanted jobs – director of Star Wars Episode IX.
The Jurassic World team has barely finished celebrating the most successful opening weekend in cinema history, grossing more than $64m, and the blockbuster has since topped the billion dollar mark.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh film in the series, will hit cinemas before the end of 2015 and has JJ Abrams on directing duties.
Meanwhile the eighth installment, with Looper director Rian Johnson at the helm, will be shot in the UK at Pinewood Studios.
