Just 40 minutes long, Netflix’s amazing new documentary has people utterly gripped

Paul Moore

Short, powerful, and superb. Don’t miss it.

With Larry David returning to our screens in Curb Your Enthusiasm, it seems like the perfect time for Netflix to release this stunning documentary which featured – in the most remarkable way possible – a perfectly timed appearance from the writer-actor.

Long Shot tells the story of Juan Catalan, a man who was arrested for a murder he didn’t commit.

In May 2003, a 16-year-old girl named Martha Puebla was shot dead at the doorstep of her Los Angeles home just days after she’d testified regarding two murders that her ex- boyfriend, Jose Ledesma had allegedly committed.

Like so many cases of injustice, Catalan was wrongly accused of a crime that he didn’t commit because, at the time of this murder, he was watching his favourite baseball team, the LA Dodgers.

To save his life, all he had to do was prove that he was one of 56,000 people at the Dodgers’ stadium on that particular that night.

What follows is a wild chase with his dedicated attorney to confirm Catalan’s alibi among thousands of people in a baseball stadium.

To tell the whole story, the search would lead him from the LA Dodgers, to a cellphone tower, to the office of the entertainer Larry David.

Long Shot is now available on Netflix and it has really resonated with viewers.
