‘I have found comfort in the one who designed me’
Following the news of Justin Bieber‘s condition, which has left his face partially paralysed due to a rare disease, the pop star has revealed how his Christian faith is helping him through his struggle.
The 28-year-old Canadian singer informed fans of his recent health struggles in a lengthy Instagram video on Saturday, June 11, detailing how a varicella-zoster virus (chickenpox/shingles) had led him to develop Ramsay Hunt syndrome, leaving one side of his face mostly paralysed.
Posting a subsequent story on the social media site, Bieber explained how despite all of the “discomfort” he has been experiencing of late, he has “found comfort in the one who designed [him] and knows [him]”.
His lengthy paragraph goes on to explain how “each day has gotten better” and that he knows “this storm will pass” and also how his belief in Jesus Christ is getting him through his daily struggles.
“I’m reminded he knows all of me. He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and he constantly welcome me into his loving arms”, Bieber explains, adding that his religious perspective has given him “peace during this horrific storm”.
Despite having previously admitted to not being a particularly religious person, he has previously mentioned that he does believe “Jesus is the saviour of humanity and that his love is what changes us” and judging by a GQ interview back in April 2021, it looks as though his belief has been further cemented.
Either way, it would seem his faith in a higher power has given him the resolve to push through this particular struggle, rounding out his post by declaring, “JESUS IS WITH ME”.
Patients experiencing Ramsay Hunt syndrome usually recover within a few weeks, especially if treatment is started right away; however, if the damage caused to the nerves causing paralysis is significant enough, it can take several months.
