We still have no explanation from Bieber. We still have no response from Cruise
Silence. So far that’s all we have from Tom Cruises’ camp after he was offered out for a fight by Justin Bieber on Sunday night, in yet another bizarre episode of The Internet In 2019.
Bieber too has remained schtum since writing on Twitter that he wanted to go toe-to-toe with the Top Gun star. “I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the Octagon,” Bieber wrote. “Tom if you don’t take this fight you’re scared and you will never live it down.”
McGregor also jumped in saying he would host the fight, adding: “Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies?”
But the question remains why exactly the Canadian singer chose to target Cruise in particular, a man 31 years his senior.
The issue was tackled by American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night.
“Starting a fight on Twitter, totally randomly, with a celebrity — who does Justin Bieber think he is? President of the United States?” he said.
“I would like to see it, though. I would pay to see that — that would be some fight: Top Gun versus man-bun.” The big question, he said, “is why has this happened? I mean, if this was a stunt, Tom Cruise would have done it himself. But why would Justin Bieber challenge Tom Cruise to fight?”
The host then speculated on three hilarious theories as to why Bieber chose to call out the 56-year-old actor. Firstly that he had stolen Bieber’s hairstyle at the beginning of the decade, then that at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2012 Cruise had laughed at Bieber getting gunged, and finally that the singer had got drunk.
