Margot Robbie’s new film looks absolutely filthy and brilliant

Paul Moore

The extremely likeable actress in her best role to date.

As soon as Margot Robbie grabbed Hollywood’s attention with her memorable performance in The Wolf of Wall Street, film fans knew that her career was bound for bigger things. Four years later and it looks like the star of About Time and Suicide Squad has landed her best role to date.

As we’ve frequently seen in her TV appearances, Robbie has a very twisted sense of humour and in her new film, I, Tonya, the Aussie actress looks set to flex her dramatic and comedic muscles.

With a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has already been earning some great reviews with Variety stating that it’s “fresh, chancy, and wickedly enjoyable movie.” It’s style and tone has even drawn comparisons to Goodfellas with one reviewer stating that “Gillespie clearly takes a page out of the Scorsese rulebook as the DNA of “Goodfellas” is imprinted all over his film. There are worse movies to blatantly copy in this day and age and, quite frankly, Gillespie pulls it off.”

You’ll definitely be watching this one.

Plot’s it about? : Based on the unbelievable but true events, I, Tonya is a darkly comedic tale of American figure skater, Tonya Harding, and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history. Though Harding was the first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition, her legacy was forever defined by her association with an infamous, ill-conceived, and even more poorly executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan.

Cast: Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney and more.

Director: Craig Gillespie.

Release date: February 16th

Enjoy.
