Eric Monkman inspired his Wolfson teammates to a memorable victory in the semi-final of University Challenge on Monday evening.
Months after capturing the hearts of a nation during his first appearance on the show, the Canadian was expected to face a stern test in the last four clash with Cambridge rivals, Emmanuel College, captained by fellow University Challenge icon, Bobby Seagull.
With his surname already riding high in the Twitter trends, a smiling Monkman introduced himself – not that he needs to introduce himself these days…

After a relatively slow start, Monkman began to dominate, firing answers at Jeremy Paxman with his his typically-ferocious intensity.
