Friends is only the second most-requested TV reboot from audiences

Rory Cashin

We’re not sure we would’ve guessed the most-requested reboot if we’d been given 100 guesses

Reboots are hit and miss right now for TV.

For every Queer Eye, there’s a Charmed. We’ve had Roseanne, Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace, Murphy Brown, Lost In Space, Battlestar Galactica, Magnum P.I., and there’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer on the way.

Some of these have worked, some of them weren’t asked for (but still kind of worked), and some should have been left well enough alone.

However, there are some shows that fans really do want to see come back to the small screen, and some of those are the most famous TV shows that have ever existed.

The Hollywood Reporter polled thousands of people, putting the question to them that if the following shows were to get the reboot treatment, how many of them would actually really look forward to sitting down and watching the new/update take.

This is how the reboot poll worked out, from least to most-wanted:

Mad About You – 28%

Alf – 34%

The Office – 38%

Family Matters – 39%

Frasier – 40%

E.R. – 43%

Seinfeld – 46%

The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air – 49%

Friends – 52%

Home Improvement – 55%

Yep, the Tim Allen comedy, where he talks to his neighbour over the hedge, and has his own maintenance TV show, and sometimes grunts like an ape? In hindsight, we’re no longer sure we’re remembering this show correctly, because that all sounds a bit bonkers.

While a little over half of those polled said that they would likely tune in for a redo of Friends, a massive 40% said that they wouldn’t tune in if the show were to come back, with the remainder unsure until they knew more about it.

Not that we should get too invested in this fantasy anyways, as Friends creators David Crane and Marta Kaufmann have already declared – with an amount of certainty – that a reunion show is never going to happen.

We guess they won’t be there for you, after all…
