Game Of Thrones fans are some of the best in the world.
It is very hard to think of another fan base who are this rabid for information in every aspect of the show, endlessly combing over every second of every teaser, trailer and episode on the hunt for new information, and it is only getting more frenzied as the end gets closer and closer.
Every fan has their own favourite member of the Game Of Thrones cast (Lena Headey, in case you were wondering), and one of the most loved in The Mountain / Ser Clegane himself, Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson.
In the lead up to this season finale, and everyone expecting a bit of a face-off between him and his brother The Hound, and with nobody really knowing when they’ll be watching their favourite character for potentially the last time, Entertainment Weekly sat down with him and discussed the show.
In among the questions about who he thinks would win the Cleganebowl (“The Mountain would win. 100%”) and what is the heaviest object he’s ever lifted (“Last year I broke a 1,000-year record in Norway lifting a wooden log that weighs 650 kg [1,433 pounds].”), he was asked if fans of the show ever have peculiar requests when they meet him.
And guess what? They sure do!
Do they ever make requests of you?
I get a lot of requests fans asking if I want to squeeze their eyes. That’s very popular. Or pick them up over head. But the most popular to squeeze their eyes out.
Ah, like The Mountain did do Prince Oberyn. So do you do it?
I don’t lift anyone. Usually just girls. I have had to say no because if I’m going to lift one person then so many others are going to ask to be lifted too. If it’s just one person, okay, but it’s crowded then I know others are going to ask. You have to try to be fair to everyone you know.
Forgive us, but who looked at this scene at thought to themselves “You know what? I really hope I get to reenact this some day…”
