E4’s divisive teen drama Skins is now over a decade old.
And while it had a habit of being a tad over the top in its depictions of sex & drugs, and trying a bit too hard to be cool  – let’s be honest, your teen life was probably much closer to The Inbetweeners – Skins was definitely groundbreaking. The teenagers were actually played by teenagers, unlike the twentysomethings of The OC and Dawson’s Creek. It didn’t feel like being lectured to by a teacher, like Grange Hill and Byker Grove did.
Who’d have thought though, that this little E4 show would end up having its fingerprints all over the Academy Awards?
As revealed on Wednesday, Daniel Kaluuya has been nominated for the Best Actor Oscar, for his role in the utterly brilliant Get Out.
Kaluuya got his first breaking, both writing for and acting in the first two series of Skins, playing wannabe rapper Posh Kenneth.
He is not the first Skins cast member to be Oscar nominated though. Dev Patel, who played Anwar is in the first and second series…
… was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2017 for Lion.
He also starred in Slumdog Millionaire, that won Best Picture in 2009.
Old School Skins fans are excited.

But wait – there’s another Skins/Oscars connection: Nicholas Hoult, who played hateable lead douchebag Tony, also had a very prominent in Mad Max: Fury Road, which got a Best Picture nomination in 2016.
Who’s next? Jack O’Connell gave Oscar worthy performances in Starred Up and ’71, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see his name up there soon.
