Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel sounds like the next true crime series you’ll be binge-watching.
With Covid-19 still very much a major and unwelcome part of our lives, we will almost definitely be spending a lot of time at home over the next couple of months.
So we truly appreciate Netflix appealing to the darkness in us and banging out the true crime documentaries.
The latest to be announced is Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, a look at a venue that is linked to some of the LA’s most notorious activity, from untimely deaths to housing serial killers.
In 2013, college student Elisa Lam was staying at the Cecil when she vanished, igniting a media frenzy and mobilising a global community of internet sleuths eager to solve the case.
According to the official bio: “Lam’s disappearance, the latest chapter in the hotel’s complex history, offers a chilling and captivating lens into one of LA’s most nefarious settings.”
The four-episode season comes from executive producer and director Joe Berlinger, who sets out to deconstruct what really happened to Lam.
Berlinger also directed Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, but his latest project will attempt to offer a chilling and captivating lens into one of LA’s most nefarious settings.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel streams on Netflix from 10 February.
