Fantastic news for fans of one of the best new comedy shows around
If you haven’t watched it yet, then stop what you’re doing – even if that means you’re in work or college or whatever – and switch on Russian Doll right now.
It is a brilliant, inventive, hilarious, and powerful comedy drama, one co-created by Parks & Recreation genius Amy Poehler, and it has already been ranked by Indiewire in the top 20 best shows of the decade, despite only having eight half-hour episodes so far.
Poehler initially sold the series to Netflix as part of a three-season deal, likely dependent on how well the first season went, so it is probably fair to assume that we have at least two more seasons on the way over the next few years.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the second season renewal was announced by Netflix Vice President of Content Cindy Holland and the show’s star, writer, and co-creator Natasha Lyonne during their appearance at Recode’s Code Conference Tuesday in Arizona.
“Nadia is a coder so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place,” said Lyonne, before heading to Twitter to celebrate the news in the most Russian Doll way imaginable:
