Huge cluckin’ scenes
In arguably the best news of 2022 so far, Netflix has announced they will be releasing the long-awaited Chicken Run 2 sometime next year.
Announced across their social media, the sequel entitled Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget will be coming to the streaming platform exclusively in 2023 and they’ve already given a first teaser image as you can see below:

When it drops, it will have been a full 23 years since the first Aardman Animations film was released (just in case you wanted to feel really old). While it might be a bit of a UK cult-hit in the grand scheme of things, the original was massive and is undoubtedly a fond memory for most of our childhoods.
In the thread following the announcement, they confirmed that the likes of Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi and Bella Ramsey will be joining the cast as we return to the beloved coop of Ginger and Rocky.
It was confirmed Mel Gibson (Rocky) won’t be returning for the sequel all the way back in 2020 and, unfortunately, Julia Sawalha (Ginger) was also axed from the project early doors for apparently sounding “too old”.
Nevertheless, we’re just glad to that this much adored, family-friendly IP is coming back after all this time and will no doubt reach a wider audience this time around,
Lastly, as if all this wasn’t enough, Netflix also announced they will be teaming with Aardman to bring the first new Wallace & Gromit film in 15 years. It’s all our British childhood staples returning at once.
Nick Park’s 30-year-old iconic creation will follow Chicken Run 2, scheduled to drop a year later in 2024; the studio’s MD Sean Clarke has teased that “audiences will find the story irresistible too.”
