Netflix have given us our first look at Henry Cavill in the TV adaptation of The Witcher
And he’s looking broody. Mind, so would you if you spent all your time hunting monsters.
Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia, a travelling monster slayer – or witcher – who feels out of place in the world, and judging by the look in his eyes, nothing’s changed there.
Back in September, Netflix announced the news that the Superman actor would be taking the role of Geralt. Now we’ve been given our first look at the main man in costume, and he’s looking pretty bad ass.

Look at the way he drinks that potion – he means business. You’ve never seen a man drink a potion with such attitude. That potion got well and truly drunk, son!
Though widely known through the video games, The Witcher is based on the series of fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The books have a huge cult following in Poland and have already been made into a TV series and film, both called The Hexer.
Here’s what Netflix have to say about the new series:
The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Epic indeed.
Starring alongside Cavill are Freya Allan as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. If you’re a fan of the books or games, this will probably mean something to you.
The show is due to drop in 2019, and while you shouldn’t completely buy into a show based solely on a silver wig and a wistful stare, we’re definitely interested in this.
