Netflix to make a new comedy show from the depraved and controversial creator of Angry Boys

Paul Moore

He’s back!

Question. Do you know what ‘sneaky nuts’ are? If the answer is yes, you’ll be pleased to know that Netflix have ordered a new ten-part comedy series from Chris Lilley, the twisted mind behind Summer Heights High and Angry Boys.

If the answer is no, this clip will explain the most depraved and f***ked up form of photobombing that you’re ever going to see.

Truth be told, very few shows have garnered such a cult following as Lilley’s work and the controversial comedian is returning with a new show on Netflix.

At present, details of the show are being kept under wraps, but the order was revealed by Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of the Queensland territory, who announced that the series will start filming between March and June 2018.

“I am delighted to have enticed Chris Lilley and producer Laura Waters to Queensland. The series will employ up to 250 Queensland cast and extras, plus around 100 Queensland crew. The project will also support two local screen practitioners, who will have the opportunity to work on the series to further develop their professional skills,” she said.

The show will be Lilley’s first since he was the subject of criticism after posting a video on his Instagram account of a music clip entitled “Squashed N**ga”, starring the character S.mouse from Lilley’s 2011 TV show, Angry Boys. The music video featured an indigenous boy lying on the ground with his arms splayed.

On 24 July 2017, the court case based on the death of Elijah Doughty had ended in controversy and was the subject of pro-Aboriginal protests. Just like the real case, Lilley’s music video described an Aboriginal boy being run over and killed. At the time, Lilley said that the video had no connection to that tragic news or current events.

Lilley’s other show, Jonah from Tonga, has also been criticised for racial insensitivity because Lilley frequently uses blackface when playing characters.

This being said, if you love his comedy, you’ll definitely be watching.
