Netflix has a new murder mystery from one of the best directors around

Paul Moore

Tense and gripping. You’ll be hooked

A few months ago, we told you that Netflix added Wind River to their library and if you’ve seen Taylor Sheridan’s film then you’ll know just how much of a complex, gripping and tense thriller that was.

This being said, there has been a recent revival in that particular sub-genre over recent years and on that note, very few films could rival Green Room in terms of sheer horror and tension.

Jeremy Saulnier’s gory take about a punk rock band that’s forced to fight for survival after witnessing a murder at a neo-Nazi skinhead bar was absolutely wonderful and since then, Saulnier occupied and left the director’s chair of True Detective Season 3.

In his new film, Hold the Dark, the talented director is about to unleash a gripping psychological thriller and we got a serious vibe of Wind River, Fargo and The Grey off it.

The mystery unfolds in the treacherous Alaskan wilderness, when a retired wolf expert is summoned to investigate a child’s disappearance. But in such a close community, can secrets remain hidden?

Hold the Dark stars Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgård and Riley Keough.

The film premieres on 28 September and if you love murder mysteries, this is shaping up to be excellent.

Take a look.
