This has a great voice cast as well
Even amongst all of Netflix’s heavy hitter, Bojack Horseman is arguably the greatest thing the streaming giant has ever produced. A meditation on depression and sadness disguised as a funny animal show with an incredible voice cast, it is both absolutely hilarious and incredibly bleak.
So it is good to see Netflix are commissioning more shows from the same team.
Tuca & Bertie comes from Lisa Hanawalt, a producer and production designer on Bojack. Instead of a depressed horse who used to be on a sitcom, this one instead focuses on two 30-year-old bird women who share an apartment, voiced by Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish.
Joining them amongstTuca & Bertie‘s stacked voice cast are Steven Yeun, Tessa Thompson, Jermaine Fowler, and Nicole Byer, Tig Notaro, Reggie Watts, Amber Ruffin, John Early, and Richard E. Grant.
The official synopsis reads:
Free-spirited toucan Tuca and self-doubting song thrush Bertie are best friends — and birds — who guide each other through life’s ups and downs… They’re just two ride-or-fly BFFs winging it together.
The 10-episode first season of Tuca & Bertie is set to drop on Netflix on May 3rd.
