This could be 2019’s best new show
If a TV show is being described as a mix of The Wire and The Town, the trailer better have something to back it up.
Thankfully, the new show from executive producers Ben Affleck (director of Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Argo) and Matt Damon (star of Good Will Hunting and the Bourne franchise) is shaping up to be a gangster classic.
At the start of the year, we marked City On A Hill as ‘one to watch’ after the first trailer piqued our interest, the latest one has us counting down the days until its released.
As for the plot, the show is set in early 1990s Boston. Assistant district attorney Decourcy Ward forms an unlikely alliance with a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran, Jackie Rohr.
Together, they take on a case that ultimately changes the city’s entire criminal justice system. In order to make any kind of progress, the duo must work as a team and navigate the murky, violent waters of the Boston criminal underworld.
Kevin Bacon will star in the lead role alongside Aldis Hodge and the inclusion of the Boston-raised Affleck and Matt Damon as producers can only add to the show’s credibility.
The show also stars Jonathan Tucker, Lauren E. Banks, Mark O’Brien, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman, and Jill Hennessey.
City on a Hill premieres on 16 June in the US but at the moment, there’s no word on a release date in the UK and Ireland.
However, with the level of talent that’s involved in this production, we’d be amazed if it’s not shown here.
