We can’t wait for this!
A few months ago, Cillian Murphy said that Season 4 of Peaky Blinders would see a return to the formula of its first two seasons.  “In the classic gangster arc, the last season was sort of all about the wealth, the house and all that material stuff. This season is sort of a return to the roots. That’s about as much as I can reveal,” he said to Today FM.
Granted, there are no ‘bad’ episodes of Steven Knight’s superb show, but in the grand scheme of things, Season 3 did feel like it was lacking some of the edginess, grit and danger from the first two seasons.
Let’s face it, rich people just aren’t as interesting and with Tommy’s rising wealth and status, he became somewhat distanced from the hustle and bustle of the crime-ridden streets of Birmingham.
At the end of Season 3, the Shelbys had their backs against the wall with Polly (Helen McCrory), Arthur (Paul Anderson), John (Joe Cole) and Michael (Finn Cole) all suddenly arrested after apparently being stitched up by the most unlikely of people.
Aside from this, it’s clear that Tommy is still consumed by vengeance after the murder of his wife Grace.
As we know, the new season will take place six months after the last episodes and the story starts with Tommy receiving a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve.
He then realises that the Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation. As the enemy closes in, he flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham where a desperate fight for survival begins.”
Ladies and gents, take a look at Tommy back on the streets and away from the mansion.
Steven Knight, creator of the show, provided a bit more information on some of the new characters that will be appearing in the show – Adrien Brody and Aidan Gillen – in an interview with The Metro.
He said: “Adrien plays the threat to the family and possibly the biggest they’ll face. Aidan is a sort of, in the face of danger it’s like pressing the nuclear button – you get him to help. Let me put it that way. We have been very fortunate to get two really legendary actors. We get a lot of actors who want to be part of [Peaky] which is great but we try not to make it a ‘spot the star’ sentiment, and just get actors who are really perfect for the role.”
Regarding the Season 3 cliffhanger and Tommy’s quest for revenge, Knight was fairly cryptic. “Tommy’s redemption might take a little bit longer. It’s the family being forced back together,” he said.
We’re expecting a full trailer in the coming weeks. And yes, Alfie Solomons will be back!
Regarding the premiere date, the official Peaky Blinders Twitter account will be the first place to announce it.
We’re pumped.
Like everyone else, they're just guessing on the start date. All we can say at the moment is it's coming soon. But you'll hear it here first
