When Katy Perry stumped up the cash for an eight acre hilltop estate in Los Feliz, she didn’t expect to have to fight over it with a group of nuns.
But she is.
The hitmaker bought the hilltop property from the Archbishop of Los Angeles last year, but 52 sisters who last lived in the building claim they had the right to sell it, which they have, to a restaurant owner.
They are making is very clear they don’t want Perry, 30, to live in their former home;Â they claim they are “being forced to violate” their vows by selling their convent to the singer.
Sister Catherine Rose Holzman emailed Archbishop Jose Gomez on May 22, she wrote: “In selling to Katy Perry, we feel we are being forced to violate our canonical vows to the Catholic Church.”
In other documents submitted by Sister Catherine Rose, 86, and Sister Rita Callanan, 77, of the Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, they accused the Archbishop of acting as if he were “above the rules and immune from the obligations of civil law”.
Katy is believed to have tried to win the nuns over by showing them her Jesus tattoo and performing a rendition of ‘Oh Happy Day’.
Christ.
