Excellent news.
Very few shows gripped the world in the way that Making a Murderer did when it was originally released. After Netflix officially announced that there will be even more episodes of the Emmy-nominated series, speculation has been rife about this might involve.
Given that the cases of Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery are literally unfolding at the very minute, not much is known about a second season apart from the fact that it will provide an in-depth look at the post-conviction process, as well as the emotional toll that it takes on all involved.
The new episodes have promised exclusive access to Avery’s new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, and Dassey’s legal team, led by Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin.
Much to our delight, the original Executive Producers/Directors, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, will be returning behind the lens to document the case.
People are extremely invested in the lives of Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery, and in an interview with USA Today, Netflix’s VP of original content, Cindy Holland, provided an update about the second season of the show.
“The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold,” Holland said.
“We don’t know when for sure new episodes will be coming. Laura and Moira are on the ground [in Manitowoc] shooting regularly and working on what the right story is to tell in the next set, so we’re deferring to them on when it will be ready. Very few people inside of Netflix actually know the details of what we’re getting because we’re wanting to keep it really under wraps and it is an ongoing case so we’re trying to be sensitive to that”, she added.
We can’t wait.
