Peaky Blinders video game confirmed for 2020

Wayne Farry

No you can be one of the Peaky Blinders

You know how it is. You’ve got the haircut, you’ve got the waistcoat and shirt with the grandad collar, you’ve got the long jacket and you’ve even got the stupid cap. Unfortunately you are still not one of the Peaky Blinders.

It doesn’t matter how many times you say “by order of the Peaky Blinders” in a Birmingham accent, you will sadly remain a non-member of the fictional gang portrayed in BBC2’s hit drama.

That will never change, but a new video game coming out in 2020 will at least give you the opportunity to feel as close to a member of the Shelby’s gang as is humanly possible without embarking on a violent spree.

A virtual reality game being developed by Maze Theory has been announced, and it will allow fans of the show to “come face-to-face with new and well-known characters, explore iconic locations in Small Heath, such as the Shelby’s illegal betting shop, and be able to raise a virtual glass of Irish whiskey in The Garrison Pub”.

“For the first time characters will respond to players’ gestures, movement, voice, sound and body language and have human-like interactions,” reads the company’s announcement of the game.

“Players will interact and collude with much-loved characters in real time, driving their responses and influencing what happens next.”

The game will be available on all VR platforms, which presumably means it can be used with PlayStation’s VR headset, PSVR.

No word yet on whether it comes with a complimentary flat cap.
