The UK’s biggest (and arguably best) festival Glastonbury announced a bunch of new performers today.
Joining the already confirmed Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran are the likes of Biffy Clyro, The National, Laura Marling, Chic, Justice, Run The Jewels and a whole bunch more.
One name in particular stood out on the bill, however: that of mega pop star Katy Perry.
As one of the biggest names in music, it was a bit of a surprise that she’d take a non-headlining slot – best guesses suggest that she’ll be on before Ed Sheeran on the Sunday.
That said, her appearance on the bill was a bit of a surprise full stop. For some, that was a nice surprise. For others, ehh, not so much.
Plenty of people were thrilled that Katy Perry would be appearing at Worthy Farm this year.

Why is Katy Perry doing Glastonbury pls

The fact is, this happens almost every year at Glastonbury. There’s always one act that people single out as being ‘wrong’ for the festival, be it Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Beyoncé – basically anyone that doesn’t play guitar or is a bit too close to pop/hip-hop.
And the funny thing is, they always come out and kill it. Maybe not Kanye, actually, that did go a bit wrong. But whether you like Katy Perry or not, there’s no denying that she’s going to put on a hell of a show.
