People think they heard a very rude message in the new M&S Christmas advert

Paul Moore

To be fair, they have a point.

Bah Humbug! There are always people who feel that the onslaught of Christmas TV adverts is cynical, targeted and devoid of any actual connection to the true meaning of Christmas, but given the state of the world, who’s going to begrudge anyone a little bit of happiness?

Hell, even Ebenezer Scrooge might have his heart warmed by the John Lewis adverts, or the M&S advert that features everyone’s favourite bear from Peru, Paddington.

In the M&S Christmas ad, we see Paddington and a confused burglar (who the bear mistakes for Santa) delivering presents. Ultimately, the lovable bear eventually helps the burglar see the error of his ways and he averts a crisis.

The whole video is nice, sentimental and schmaltzy, but keep your ears peeled for the 1:10 mark because some people thought they heard a rude word in the M&S advert.

Yep, we heard it too.

*Rumour* has it that next year’s Christmas advert will be directed by Tarantino and will see Paddington go on a roaring rampage of revenge as he slices up his enemies with a sword while cursing like a sailor.

*Note: That’s probably not going to happen – how amazing would that be though?- but plenty of people thought they heard an accidental ‘f**k you’ being uttered.

Language people, language.

Leave Paddington alone.
