Peter Kay has cancelled his comeback tour due to “unforeseen family circumstances.”
The popular stand-up comedian has been forced to pull the plug on more than 100 dates which had been scheduled on what would have been his first tour in eight years.
Kay was set to take his act to venues across the UK and Ireland on a tour across 2018 and 2019 but released a statement on Wednesday morning in which he revealed that he would be unable to fulfil the commitments. The 44-year-old also cancelled his upcoming Dance For Life shows.
“Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all my upcoming work projects,” a statement read. “This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding work commitments.

“My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.
“I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again I’m very sorry.”
Those who had purchased tickets for Kay’s shows will be entitled to full refunds.
