Phillip Schofield breaks social media silence with first picture in over a year

Charlie Herbert

It’s the first time he’s posted since last May

Phillip Schofield has broken his year-long social media silence as rumours swirl about a potential TV comeback for the presenter.

The former This Morning host changed his profile picture on Instagram to a picture of his dog, and followed this up with a post of the canine watching Formula 1 on a television.

He captioned the post: “Thankfully, Alfie is a big F1 fan.”

A number of celebs have liked the pictures, including Leigh Francis and his former This Morning colleague Josie Gibson, the Mirror reports.

It is the first thing Schofield has posted on social media since May 7 last year.

Since his last post, Schofield was embroiled in scandal surrounding an affair he had with a male colleague during his time on This Morning.

The 62-year-old stepped down from his role as This Morning host and quit ITV after admitting he had lied about the relationship, which he described the affair as “unwise but not illegal.”

This was followed by allegations of a “toxic culture” at This Morning during Schofield’s time as host, although an external review found there was no evidence of this.

Since the scandal, Schofield has not had a role in TV, but recent reports have claimed he is eyeing up a return.

Last week, he was pictured with celebrity pal Declan Donnelly, and a source told the Mirror that the I’m A Celebrity presenter was encouraging Schofield to return to work.
