Phillip Schofield ‘offered TV return’ as he ‘leans on celebrity friends for support’

Charlie Herbert

TV execs have apparently ‘been in touch’ with Schofield

Phillip Schofield is said to have been ‘offered a TV return’ and has been offered support by celebrity friends including Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

The celebrity pair were seen laughing and joking in London recent’y, the Mirror reports.

Schofield quit ITV last year after he admitted to lying about an affair with a younger male colleague on This Morning. The presenter described the affair as “unwise but not illegal”, and left the broadcaster as a result.

Since then, he hasn’t had a role in TV.

But Donnelly has reportedly been encouraging the 62-year-old to return to TV, along with a number of others, according to a source.

However, Schofield is apparently still reluctant.

A source said: “Since he left This Morning, Phil has been held up by the support of friends like Ant, Dec and Alison Hammond.

“They have all been rallying around him and their support, especially from Dec who is such a good friend, has really helped Phil.

“Some TV executives have been in touch with Phil about a possible return and his friends have told him he should consider it. Phil is still shell shocked by everything that happened last year and is happy at the moment to focus on rebuilding his life with the support of his friends and family.”
