Her new film deals with one of the most infamous moments in the history of the Winter Olympics.
2016 was a memorable year for Australian actress Margot Robbie as she starred in Suicide Squad, The Legend of Tarzan and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, but aside from her on-screen career, the incredibly likable actress also tied the knot with her boyfriend.
Yep, people everywhere must be crushed with that news.
With upcoming roles in Gotham City Sirens, Terminal and a new film alongside Domhnall Gleeson, 2017 is shaping up to be another busy year for the About Time and Wolf of Wall Street star.
In I, Tonya, Robbie gets set to demonstrate her acting range as the film depicts the events surrounding one of the most infamous moments in the history of the Winter Olympics, Tonya Harding’s infamous involvement with the attack on her rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.
For those of you that don’t know,  Harding’s ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckhard, hired a hit-man named Shane Stant to break Nancy Kerrigan’s right leg, so she would not be able to compete at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.
Things didn’t go as planned though and Harding was ultimately banned for life from the U.S. Figure Skating Association after pleading guilty to hindering the prosecution following the attack on Kerrigan.
I, Tonya is set to be released next year and if these set photos are anything to go by, it’s clear that Robbie is fully immersed in the gripping role.
