Even the biggest bands in the world started out from humble beginnings.
Two members of Pink Floyd returned to the college where the band was founded 50 years ago, and lyricist Roger Waters admitted that the prog rock giants were “effing awful” to begin with.
Drummer Nick Mason was slightly more tactful, saying: “Put it like this: if we’d gone up for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, I don’t think we would have made it past the audition stage.”

Waters and Mason were reunited at Regent Street Polytechnic in London, where they first met, for the unveiling of a plaque to mark 50 years since the band’s formation.
The college is now part of the University of Westminster, but the band will tell you that they don’t need no education…
