We’re going to assume for a second that someone reading this is still out there trying to catch ’em all in Pokemon go.Â
The summer’s smash-hit augmented reality smartphone game still has a not-too-shabby 30m players chasing Rattatas on their lunch breaks, but it’s fair to say the buzz has seriously died down.
Now, we’re not saying Niantic Labs’ Halloween event will recapture the game its former blockbuster status, but it might have a few of you dusting off your Pokédexes for scary season.
Between October 26 and November 1, Pokemon Go is ramping up the spooky by making it more likely that you’ll run into a Drowzee, Hypno, Ghastly, Haunter, Gengar, Golbat or Zubat on your travels (the most Halloween-like Pokemon).
Anyone who sunk some time into the game in the summer will know that some of those Pokemon were more common than others, but anything that breaks up the never-ending onslaught of Pidgeys is fine by us.
And their milking of Halloween themes doesn’t end there. Catching, hatching and transferring Pokemon will earn players twice as much candy as usual, and quadruple for walking with buddies.
It’s hardly an irresistible offering, but if you’ve been looking for an excuse to jump back in to the fiendishly addictive game, there’s no better time than right now.
