People in attendance were wearing black as part of a protest against sexual assault.
Kate Middleton caused controversy when she appeared on the red carpet alongside Prince William at the annual BAFTA Awards last night.
Where as the majority of females in attendance at the ceremony wore black to support the Time’s Up campaign, she turned up in a dark green Jenny Packham dress.
A similar dress code had been in place at the Academy Awards and Golden Globes, with Hollywood’s leading ladies choosing to wear black as a mark of solidarity in an effort to stand against gender inequality and sexual harassment in their industry.
As a result, the Duchess, who is expecting her third child with the Duke of Cambridge, was called out on social media for her choice of outfit:

It comes after actress Blanca Blanco attracted criticism after she chose to wear red to the Golden Globes.
