Rangers fans will be forgiven for thinking FIFA 17 are taking the piss with their ratings

Joey Barton comes out on top.

Joey Barton’s future at Rangers is uncertain, but the smart money is on the 34-year-old never playing for the Scottish club again.

Barton, currently promoting his new autobiography, which features a story of him biting former Manchester City team-mate Richard Dunne during a bar room brawl (among other things), has been suspended by Rangers for three weeks following a training ground bust-up with teammate Andy Halliday and coaching staff.

It’s fair to say that fans of the Glasgow club won’t shed any tears if Barton does depart the club.

The former Newcastle United midfielder played eight games for Rangers, and generally performed poorly during his time in Scotland, particularly so against Celtic in the 5-1 defeat.

Which will make Rangers’ fans all the more surprised when they see the team’s ratings for FIFA 17.

And here’s the ratings for the team’s midfielders:

Barton is rated as Rangers’ best player, a controversial decision given the player’s struggles at Ibrox, and the club’s apparent eagerness to jettison him.

However, as Gary Lineker pointed out, it’s just a game and as such ratings probably shouldn’t be taken that seriously.

Plus, we’re sure other features of the game will cause Rangers’ fans greater annoyance – like the fact they’re now doing Celtic’s famous pre-match huddle.
