The journalist asked about realistic portrayals of history in the director’s latest film, The Last Duel
Ridley Scott has told a journalist to “go f*ck yourself.”
The Gladiator director made the comment after a Russian journalist suggested his new film, The Last Duel, looks “more realistic” than some of the director’s other films.
“It’s a very realistic film, it looks more realistic than Kingdom of Heaven or Robin Hood,” says the journalist, before Ridley starts swearing.
“Sir, fuck you, fuck you, thank you very much, fuck you, go fuck yourself, go on,” Scott responds.
Killing Eve actor Jodie Comer, who stars in the film and is sitting next to the filmmaker during the interview, looks down at the floor and doesn’t say anything when Scott starts his attack.

It isn’t clear what annoyed the director so much about the comments – but the journalist had previously asked Scott about nailing the balance between truth and art in terms of the way his films look.
The director also turned heads in late November whilst on the promotional circuit for this movie when he blamed its box office failure on millennials spending more time on their phones than going to the cinema.
“I think what it boils down to — what we’ve got today [are] the audiences who were brought up on these fucking cellphones,” Scott told comedian Marc Maron’s popular WTF Podcast.
“The millennian [sic] do not ever want to be taught anything unless you’re told it on a cellphone.
“This is a broad stroke but I think we’re dealing with it right now with Facebook,” he added. “This is a misdirection that has happened where it’s given the wrong kind of confidence to this latest generation, I think.”
Historical drama The Last Duel made just $27 million worldwide on release after costing around $100 million to make.
