Robert Pattinson has hinted he’d do X-rated movies – on one condition

It all depends on how The Batman performs…

Robert Pattinson has boldly claimed he’d do “art house porn” on one condition as the world gets ready for the release of The Batman.

One of the year’s most highly-anticipated movies hits the big screen on Friday (March 4) and will see Pattinson star as the famous caped crusader in the dark, moody and gritty reboot of the franchise.

After months of delays and hype, it’s finally here.

However some fans may be hoping it ends up being a bit of a box office bomb, because Pattinson has previously said that if The Batman flops, he’ll enter a very different world of film – porn.

Speaking to the Guardian, he said he would switch to “art house porn” if The Batman ended up being a failure.

After shooting to mega-stardom in the Twilight saga, Pattinson took a step back from mainstream cinema and appeared in a series of lower-profile independent movies, such as the critically-acclaimed The Lighthouse alongside Willem Dafoe.

So The Batman will be his first leading role in a major movie in a while.

Although if somehow the film doesn’t live up to the hype, Pattinson’s got a back up plan.

In the interview, Pattinson says that he’s his own biggest critic. When he’s asked what he’ll do if the worst case scenarios in his head play out after The Batman‘s release, the actor replied: “Porn. But art house porn.”

In the same interview he said that he “really wanted” the role of Bruce Wayne, because it has a “power.”

So far, it doesn’t look like Pattinson needs to worry about a career in the adult film industry. The Batman has a rating of 86 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes after the first reviews from critics, and according to Variety, Warner Bros. is hoping for a $100m opening weekend from the film.

The film stars Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and Paul Dano as The Riddler.

When the project was first created it was mean to be a Ben Affleck production, with the actor starring as the Dark Knight and directing the film.

However when Affleck dropped out, Matt Reeves took control, and Pattinson was cast as Batman.
