Director Matt Reeves also tips this to be ‘the most emotional Batman movie ever’ and will shake Bruce Wayne ‘to his core’
After some significant delay dues to Covid-19 and the leading man, Robert Pattinson, contracting the coronavirus himself, Matt Reeves’ The Batman finished filming back in March and the excitement is now really building ahead of its release early next year.
Matt Reeves shared a picture from the last day on set to his Twitter page on the 13th and now both he and Pattinson have been teasing what fans can expect from the film before it drops on March 4th, 2022.

Speaking at CinemaCon this week, Pattinson – who decided to don the cape and take control of the iconic cowl after Ben Affleck dropped out of the project (this was set to be his first solo film in the DCEU) – says that this version will be “radically different” from other portrayals of Batman.
He went on to talk at length about Bruce Wayne’s deep rage in the film, which was clearly on show in that first trailer, stating that while he’s “working [it] out… all the fights seem very personal.”
As for director Matt Reeves – known for the Planet of the Apes films and the Cloverfield series – in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that this particular film “could be the most emotional Batman movie ever made.”
Like Christopher Nolan before him, Reeves said that the Frank Miller comics have been an inspiration for him, Batman: Year One, particularly. He said that he wanted to emulate what that story does and “come right into a young Batman, not being an origin tale, but referring to his origins and shaking him to his core”.
The film is now in post-production and all that’s left to do is sit and wait. But hey, at least we have this new extended trailer from CinemaCon to hyper-analyse until then!
