She may no longer have her belt, but Ronda Rousey deserves every accolade for managing to infiltrate the mainstream in the manner she has.
It was announced on Tuesday that the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion will host NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in New York on January 23. She will be joined by pop star Selena Gomez on the show.
Rousey has yet to make a media appearance since losing her belt to Holly Holm via stunning head kick knockout at UFC 193, and this could be the first time we see her on screen after the event.
She will become the first MMA fighter and just the third fighter to host the show, following ex-boxing middleweight champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler and former undisputed heavyweight champion George Foreman.
It is unclear what Rousey’s next move in the UFC will be, with some suspecting she will be granted a chance to reclaim her belt against the Preacher’s Daughter at UFC 200.
Rousey is also set to star in the remake of the 80s cult classic “Roadhouse” with filming expected to begin soon.
Happy New Year!
