Here’s your weird fact of the day: in the US state of Utah, you can’t serve alcohol in a venue if you are screening anything with nudity or sexual acts.
Guess they might think people looking at a nipple while intoxicated would send them into a blind fury.
Now, this quirk is particularly important as it recently got a Utah cinema into some hot water over a boozy late night screening of Deadpool.
You remember Deadpool right? Bright breezy superhero film? Loads of laughs? Good action scenes? Plenty of fourth wall breaking nudge-nudge wink-winks?
And a big stonking sex montage in it (Which deserves credit for Mr. Pool not only going down on Vanessa, but being open to getting pegged too. Oh yeah, and it’s really funny to boot).
Cue a $25,000 fine (just over £17,000) for Utah cinema Brewvies for serving beer during the screening. Ouch.
Fining a cinema around one employee’s yearly wage over an outdated law seems rather silly, and in response, a GoFundMe page was set up by Brewvies to fight the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, to step in and donate $5,000 towards the fund.
Thank god, they've found a way to legislate fun. https://t.co/vUSptxaHb9

@VancityReynolds thanks for standing behind this little SLC Gem…I'd love to buy you a beer @Brewvies when this hopefully blows over! 🍻

@VancityReynolds @GeekShow @bleedingcool As a devout Mormon let me say, Utah is pretty freakin' weird.
