If you’re not watching this show yet, you really need to
Every so often, a TV show just sneaks up on you and without really trying, it leaves a lasting impression. Glow is the perfect example of this.
Since debuting last year, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (get it?) can lay claim to having one of – if not the – finest debut season of any Netflix original.
Yep, we’re putting it up there with the likes of Narcos, Stranger Things and Master of None because Glow was a perfect mix of comedy, drama and original storytelling.
In case you’re not familiar with the Golden Globe-nominated show, Season One revolved around an unemployed actress named Ruth (Allison Brie) that hopes to find stardom by portraying a female wrestler in 1980s LA.
This being said, the drama in Ruth’s personal life crosses over into the wrestling ring after she betrays her close friend Debbie – another actress that’s finding refuge in the wonderfully weird world of Glow.
All the characters are excellent but special praise goes to Marc Maron’s burned-out, cynical and foul-mouthed turn as the sleazy yet incredibly likeable promoter, Sam Sylvia.
If you’re not familiar with Glow, you need to catch up because Season 2 will be available to watch on Netflix from June 29.
Trust us, it’s fantastic.
