The creator plans for five seasons of the beloved show. Sign us up!
It’s a sign of the talent that the creators and writers of Mindhunter have that in the midst of meeting some of the most infamous and sadistic killers that the world has known, the most interesting and complex character is still Holden Ford.
Expertly played by Jonathan Groff, the special agent in the FBI’s Behavioural Science Unit is driven, meticulous and oddly charismatic for somebody that seems completely lacking in the most basic social skills.
This being said, his passion, intellect and love of the macabre makes him an utterly fascinating protagonist but the whole raison d’etre of the beloved drama is to delve into the psyche of the most vicious killers in U.S. history.

On that note, The Hashtag Show have reported that Season 2 will see the two FBI agents will be meeting the infamous murderer/cult leader, Charles Manson.
After creating a commune in California, Manson’s followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. In 1971, he was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, all of which members of the group carried out at his instruction.
Manson was also convicted of first-degree murder for two other deaths. He died at the age of 83 in prison.
Elsewhere, Manson devotee Tex Watson and The Son of Sam, David Berkowitz, are expected to also be interviewed by Holden and Bill in the new season.
Berkowitz plead guilty to murdering 8 people with a .44 Caliber gun in New York City during the summer of 1976.
The same report states that Elmer Wayne Henley,William Pierce, Jr, Paul Bateson, Dennis Rader, and The Stocking Strangler, William Henry Hance, will also be featured in the show.
As for the main plot/investigation, Season 2 of Mindhunter will be examining the Atlanta Child Murders; a string of 28 mostly child murders, that shook Atlanta from 1979-1981.
As reported by The Playlist, the director of Se7en, Fight Club and Zodiac, David Fincher, will return behind the lens for some of the episodes. Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and Carl Franklin (House of Cards, Homeland) will also be directing episodes for Season 2.
During a previous chat with Screenrant, Holt McCallany (Bill) said that David Fincher (creator of Mindhunter) has plans to develop the story over five seasons.
“You know I’m in small, you know, supporting parts, peripheral parts. And so it was a big deal for me to be invited back by David in one of the leads. Because you know I believe in his talent, you know, and I know that you know, he wants to do five years of this show. Five seasons of these characters and so I’m hopeful, you know I don’t take anything for granted,” he said.
After all, they need to talk to more subjects.
Season 2 of Mindhunter will be released in 2019 on Netflix.
