“Your heart is true, you’re a pal and a confidante…”
This morning Disney hosted an online press conference for the soon-to-launch Star, the new brand coming to Disney+ on Tuesday, February 23rd.
Disney had already revealed a number of classic shows coming to the Star brand at launch, but part of today’s press conference focused on the future of Disney+ and Star, and what to expect throughout the rest of 2021.
Obviously a lot of it is still pretty top secret, but they did confirm some new details, such as X-Men: First Class and Logan arriving later in 2021, Kingsman: The Secret Service being made available at launch, and movies like Can You Ever Forgive Me?, The Beach, Taken, andEnemy Of The State arriving very soon after launch.
There was also discussion about original Star content, that will only be available in the UK and Ireland on the new Disney+ brand, such as Only Murders In The Building, a new comedy series starring legendary comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short, as well as The Old Man, a thriller series starring Jeff Bridges and produced by Jon Watts (director of the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies), and Dopesick, a new drama series starring Michael Keaton and Rosario Dawson, directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Good Morning Vietnam), which focuses on the Opioid addiction in the States.
But chances are that you’ve clicked on this article solely to find out more information about that headline, and we’re getting to that!
When asked about the most important topic at hand – the imminent arrival of The Golden Girls – a spokesperson for Disney+ confirmed the good news: all 180 episodes across the seven series will be coming to Star on Disney+.
While he couldn’t go into too much detail on specifics, he did announce that the show will be made available this summer.
Now, if you’ll excuse us…
