Spider-Man No Way Home becomes highest fan-rated movie in Rotten Tomatoes history

Adam Bloodworth

No Way Home has a 99% positive fan rating

People can’t get enough of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with fans on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes giving it an Audience Score of 99%.

It’s the highest ever fan review rating the film website has ever seen, according to ComicBook.com.

Rotten Tomatoes shared the news of their massive record-breaking fan rating on Twitter.

Critics were as impressed with the entry as the fans have been. The film gained a rare 100% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics when it was first released.

That means that at that moment in time, 100% of the reviews for the film listed on Rotten Tomatoes were positive. That rating changes over time though as new reviews are posted.

Time Out said No Way Home gives Spidey “room to shine, and packs an emotional punch that could floor any of his villains”.

Empire magazine loved it too, saying: “At the risk of getting cheesy, it won’t just make you cheer, it’ll make you want to hug your friends, too.”

ABC News called Tom Holland “better than ever,” adding: “In his surprise-packed, third solo outing as a teen hero in a onesie who’s out to save the world and a faltering pandemic box office. But this time the generic thrills are tempered with genuine emotion.”

At the end of the last Spider-Man instalment, Spider-Man’s superhero identity is outed to the world, so he seeks help from Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Other Spider-Man favourites return too, including Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina. Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman are both back too, and other returning villains include the Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

Zendaya returns too as Spidey’s high-school crush, MJ.

No Way Home picks up straight after 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home left off.
