He will be taking on the role of Berlin
Squid Game star Park Hae-Soo will be starring in the Korean adaptation of the Netflix hit drama Money Heist.
Haw-Soo, who played Cho Sang-woo in Squid Game, the dystopian Korean drama series that took the world by storm earlier this year, will be taking on one of Money Heist‘s biggest roles by playing Berlin.
Last year, it was announced that a Korean adaptation of the Alex Pina-created series was in production. The hit series about a group of criminals who take part in a series of heists is coming to an end in December, with the second half of its fifth and final series dropping on Netflix on December 3.
Deadline reports that Pina will be an executive producer on the Korean adaptation, which is set to be released next year.
In a video on the official Money Heist YouTube channel, Hae-Soo spoke about his excitement in playing the role of Berlin.
“Hello to all Netflix fans on the planet,” Park says as he takes off one of the iconic masks from the original series, first worn by actor Pedro Alonso, who originally played the role of Berlin. “In the Korean version, we also have a special mask. When we show it next year, I’ll give one to Pedro too.
“It is an honour for me to participate in such a wonderful series, and above all, make Berlin an amazing character,” added Park.
“In the past five years, fans from around the world have shown their love for the series. I hope our Korean version also receives your love and support.”
The show will also star Yoo Ji-tae (as The Professor), Jeon Jong-seo (Tokyo), Lee Won-jong (Moscow) and more.
