A remake of Stephen King’s chilling horror ‘It’ has been pushed back indefinitely.
The acclaimed author’s 1986 novel was brought to TV screens in 1990, and instantly became a cult classic thanks to Tim Curry’s portrayal of bloodthirsty clown Pennywise.
The latest production – which was scheduled to start in three weeks’ time – has been cancelled owing to an unfinished script and the sudden exit of director Cary Fukunaga, reportedly due to budget cuts.
King responded to the news by referencing Curry’s performance in the 1990 mini-series on Twitter…
The remake of IT may be dead–or undead–but we'll always have Tim Curry. He's still floating down in the sewers of Derry.

The news comes shortly after it was revealed that London-born actor Will Poulter – star of We’re The Millers and The Maze Runner – was in talks to play the part of Pennywise.
