Dr Dre and fellow N.W.A survivors Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Ella all turned out for the worldwide premiere of new film Straight Outta Compton.
Snoop Doog was also in attendance and showed his support by wearing an N.W.A t-shirt.
Despite it being a an entertainment event, it has been reported The Los Angeles Police Department “tripled security” for Monday’s screening.
The Los Angeles Times reports that LAPD officers joined private security staff to patrol the grounds surrounding the LA Live venue.
“We want everybody to enjoy the event. Better safe than sorry,” said LAPD’s Central Bureau Officer Mike Lopez.
Meanwhile DJ Yella – real name Antoine Carraby – was one of the film’s consultants and said at first he never believed their story was big enough to make a major motion picture.
“We did something we never thought we would do, we made records, and now 26 years later a big movie about us is coming out in 20 countries. It is amazing, I didn’t think we had a story that big. They took 10 years and squashed it into two hours and 25 minutes.”
Straight Outta Compton hits UK cinemas on August 28.
