If you’re yet to watch Stranger Things 2 in full, you might want to give this a swerve for now.
Yep, that’s right, this is the bit where we hit bold caps lock and warn you that spoilers lie ahead.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Still with us? Good. Then let’s get cracking.
As you may or may not have noticed, Jim Hopper can be seen wearing a blue bracelet for most of the season. While it might be seen as having little relevance to the storyline, it’s now emerged that it’s actually a nod to a character we saw briefly in season one.
David Harbour, the actor who plays Hopper, confirmed that the bracelet did hold some significance when a fan of the show tweeted him about it last month, even flagging where in season one it could be found.
It’s subtle, but there. Rewatch the first flashback with my daughter in season one. See if you can spot it… https://t.co/Eawz6gJPx0

Fans have now worked out that in the flashback Harbour was referring to, Hopper can be seen with his daughter Sara, who begins to have difficulty breathing. As the picture below makes clear, Sara is wearing a blue hair tie (the bracelet).
This is by no means the last we see of it, either. In another flashback we see Sara in hospital. Her hair has gone – presumably due to her undergoing chemotherapy – and we see she is wearing the hair tie is being worn as a bracelet around her right wrist.
Clearly, the bracelet is incredibly important to Hopper, explaining why he continues to wear it.
In the final episode of ST2, however, the bracelet is no longer on Hopper’s wrist. Instead, it’s being worn by Eleven, who is now his adopted daughter.
It’s a lovely touch, and a detail that many of the show’s viewers will almost certainly have missed.
