‘People forget I’m playing a character’
Actress Sydney Sweeney, who shot to fame on HBO’s ‘Euphoria’, has said she ‘won’t stop’ filming nude scenes in Hollywood.
The 26-year-old hasn’t shied away from nude scenes during her career which has earned her a ‘sex symbol’ status.
However, Sweeney has previously said some people struggle to separate her from the characters she plays.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter in 2022, Sweeney said: “People forget that I’m playing a character, they think ‘oh, she gets naked onscreen, she’s a sex symbol’.
“I can’t get past that. I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry.”
Sweeney starred in ‘Euphoria’ alongside Hunter Schafer, Angus Cloud and Jacob Elordi in 2019 and went on to star in the likes of ‘The White Lotus’, ‘Anyone But You’ and ‘Madame Web’.
She said she ‘fully trusts’ the filmmakers she works with, particularly Sam Levinson who wrote ‘Euphoria’.
Levinson is said to be writing the script for the third season of ‘Euphoria’ but has faced issues as he looks to take it away from a high school setting given the shows stars are all in their mid-late 20s now.
27-year-old Elordi addressed this issue on Jimmy Fallon as he said he hoped the third series went into production soon or ‘they’ll have to Benjamin Button me’.
Production on series three of ‘Euphoria’ is slated for January of next year.
Meanwhile, Sweeney has been cast to play boxer Christy Martin, nicknamed the female rocky in an upcoming film about Martin’s life, though filming has not yet begun on that biopic.
