Gina Carano was fired from The Mandalorian last week
Toy manufacturer Hasbro is to stop making action figures of Gina Carano’s character Cara Dune, following her being dropped from The Mandalorian.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that toy retailers have had to cancel pre-orders for new Cara Dune figures.
“The Star Wars Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received,” a spokeswoman for BigBadToyStore told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting preorders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.”
Gina Carano played Cara Dune, a former Rebel shock trooper turned mercenary who befriends Din Djarin and helps him look after The Child, on the Disney Plus show.
Last week it was revealed that she had been removed from the show following a series of controversial social media posts.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson confirmed to The Verge.
“Her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, she shared a post on Instagram appearing to compare the treatment of Jewish during the Holocaust to Republicans in the present day.
Last year, Carano also shared unsubstantiated claims of vote fraud in the US Presidential election.
Carano originally found fame as an MMA fighter, competing in Strikeforce, and is considered a pioneer of women’s MMA. She moved into acting after she caught the attention of director Steven Soderbergh, who cast her in the lead of the 2011 action movie Haywire, alongside Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, and Channing Tatum. She then went on to have supporting roles in blockbusters like Deadpool and Fast & Furious 6.
