One of the most iconic 90s action films is among the movies on TV tonight

It’s got a huge cult following.

If you’re looking for a distraction from whatever result happens in the Euros final tonight, then you’re in luck as there are some great movies on TV.

Our pick of the bunch will definitely have you engrossed in the action – Point Break.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the 1992 film stars Keanu Reeves as FBI agent Johnny Utah, who infiltrates a gang of bank-robbing surfers led by the enigmatic Bodhi (Patrick Swayze).

All doesn’t go to plan however when Utah finds himself in deep with the gang and forges a complex relationship with Bodhi and local waitress Tyler (Lori Petty).

The film is as 90s as it can get and features a heavy amount of surfer-bro nostalgia, with a great soundtrack featuring the likes of Jimmy Hendrix, Ice-T and Sheryl Crow.

On top of that, many have praised the great central relationship between the two leads, as well as thrilling action sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.

Another great 90s film is among the movies on TV tonight and it stars Pierce Brosnan as volcanologist Harry Dalton who attempts to escape an erupting volcano in the fictional town of Dante’s Peak.

The Green Mile – Film Four – 9pm
1999 fantasy drama based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King and starring Tom Hanks as a death row prison guard during the Great Depression who witnesses supernatural events following the arrival of an enigmatic convict (Michael Clarke Duncan).

Assassin’s Creed – E4 – 10pm
Michael Fassbender stars in this frankly terrible adaptation of the popular video game franchise about a fictional assassin organization active in the late 15th-century,

Florence Foster Jenkins – BBC Two – 11.55pm
2016 biographical film starring Meryl Streep as the New York heiress known for her generosity and poor singing.

Fight Club – Channel 4 – 12am
Perfect nihilistic viewing for anyone miserable after the events of tonight’s Euros results.

Die Hard – Film Four – 12.45am
